Orville Walters

Orville Walters, 87, of Rockwell City, died Sunday, February 4, 2001 at Stewart Memorial Hospital in Lake City. Funeral services were held Wednesday, February 7, at the United Methodist Church in Rockwell City, with the Rev. Douglas Harding officiating. Burial was in Rosehill Cemetery, Rockwell City.

Survivors include wife, Rogene; daughter, Carolyn Brown, Estherville; son, Dennis, Pocahontas; three grandchildren; one great-grandson; brother, Earl, Rockwell City; and sister, Doris Hildreth, Rockwell City.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Franklin A. and Laura A. Engstrom Walters; a sister, Marjorie Hubel; brother Elmer in infancy; and a granddaughter.

Orville F. Walters was born October 19, 1913, near Rockwell City. He graduated from Rockwell City High School in 1932. Following his education, he farmed northeast of Rockwell City. He married Rogene Fish in 1941, at Rockwell City. They established their home on a farm near Richards. In 1983, they moved to the Sunnyview Retirement Apartments in Rockwell City. In 1999, he became a resident of Shady Oaks Care Center in Lake City. He was a lifetime member of the United Methodist Church in Rockwell City. He enjoyed photography, telling jokes and playing his harmonica.
