Joseph Hickox
Newspaper obituary (date and newspaper unknown)

Died, at the home of Clifford Smith, near Rockwell on Sunday night, December 21, 1890, Joseph Hickox, aged 80 years, 6 months and 27 days.

Mr. Hickox was born in New York state May 24, 1810. Moved with his parents to Connecticut and later settled in Illinois near Geneseo, where he married and lived continuously until last spring when he and his wife came to Rockwell to spend the evening of their days with their two remaining children, out of a family of eight, W.H. Hickox and Mrs. Clifford Smith.

They both enjoyed quite good health until about two months ago when it was noticed that he began to fail rapidly and all efforts to revive his failing strength proved unavailing, and he passed away as above noted full of years and of good works, a ripe sheaf garnered home.

He was a Christian man, an aged father in Israel, whose happy, cheerful presence will be missed from the homes it has been wont to warm with its radiance, and the aged wife and sorrowing relatives will have the sympathy of all in the hour of bereavement.
