OBITUARY

Grandpa Moulds died Saturday evening about 8 o’clock. The funeral was held from the Christian church Tuesday at 1:30 o’clock and interment made in Mt. Zion cemetery. The sermon was preached by Rev,. Mr. Humphry, of Galesburg, assisted by Rev. Mr. Downie, of Wenona, and Rev. Mr. Withee, of our town.

John Moulds was born in Cambridgeshire, England, July 31, 1808; died at Flanagan, Ill, Oct. 26, 1901, aged 93 years, 2 months and 26 days. He was married to Sarah Howitt, August 4th , 1830, she died Sept. 17, 1885. To this unon were born 15 children, of which eight sons and three daughters lived to reach the age of manhood and womanhood. He came with his family to the United States in 1853, and settled near Detroit, Michigan; moving to Marshall county, Ill., in 1855, in which and adjoining counties he lived until his death. He leaves surviving him eight children, viz: John, William, Charles, Isaac, George, Thomas, Alfred, Emma; 32 grand children. 45 great-grand children, 3 great-great grand children.

He was married to Elizabeth Richardson Apirl 11, 1886; she died June 5, 1891. He was again married April 12, 1893, to Sarah J. Harris who survives him.

He united with the Particular Baptist church in England about 70 years ago and served the church as deacon over 40 years.

Six of the surviving sons acted as pall bearers at the funeral.

Guy, Minonk; Mrs. Henry Sutton and son, Rutland; D. H. Moulds, Wolcott, Ind.; Mr. and Mrs. Colehower, Long Point. – The Home Times, Flanagan, Ill. Nov. 1, 1901

Thomas Moulds received word Thursday morning that his father, of Ill., was very sick, so Thomas and Albert Moulds accompanied by their nephew and niece, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Moulds, left Thursday night to be with their father during his last hours; he is 93 years of age.
