Everts, age 88, of Parkersburg, Iowa will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday, December 29 at Calvary Baptist Church with burial in Oak Hill Cemetery, both in Parkersburg. Redman-Schwartz Funeral Home of Parkersburg is assisting the family with the arrangements.
Fred E. Everts, son of George and Jennie (Syhlman) Everts, was born February 15, 1923 in Grundy County near Parkersburg, Iowa. Mr. Everts graduated from Parkersburg High School in 1942. He married LaVerne Huisman on October 8, 1943 at Calvary Baptist Church. Fred farmed south of Parkersburg and also worked seasonally at Ackley Canning Factory, Clay Equipment Co., Chamberlain Manufacturing Co., and Luhring Monuments. He retired from farming in 1985. He was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church.
Fred E. Everts died Saturday, December 24, 2011 at Sartori Memorial Hospital in Cedar Falls, Iowa of natural causes. He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant daughter, Linda Everts, a sister Alice Church, and a brother William "Bill" Everts.
Fred is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, LaVerne; four daughters, Ardyce (John) Hartley of Nuevo, California, Marie (Mart) Butenhoff of Marshalltown, Iowa, LeeAnn(Jeff) Saylor of Benton, Wisconsin, and Gail (Terry)Ridder of Shell Rock, Iowa; a son, Glen (Theresa) Everts of Dumont, Iowa; 12 grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren; a brother, Marvin (Marcedes) Everts of Parkersburg, Iowa, and a sister, Esther (Charles) Stickley of Hurley, New York.
