FRANK MILLEN FOUND DEAD
Frank Millen, 49, lifelong resident of the Clarksville community, was found dead in his upstairs bedroom at his home by neighbors, about six o’clock Saturday evening, August 15th. Coroner Forest Whitaker was called from Dumont and his investigation disclosed the fact that he had committed suicide, with a small shotgun, evidently about 9:30 in the morning, not having been seen by any of his neighbors during the day.
He was a bachelor, lived alone, and his health had seemed to be declining since early spring.
No other motive can be assigned for his taking his life, as he was of a kindly quiet disposition, friendly to all and well-liked by his neighbors.
He was born at the farm home of his parents, the late George and Zella (Harvey) Millen, May 24, 1887, and was an only son.
Surviving are a sister, Mrs. George Wilder of Clarksville, and her children, Beryl, Paul, and Mrs. Irwin Kleinschmidt of Waterloo, Bernita and Kenneth, at home, and a cousin, Mrs. Helen Davis-Scripture.
He was a world war veteran, having enlisted in the service July 26, 1918. He saw overseas service in France four months and was honorably discharged March 6, 1919. He was a member of Company G. 161st infantry.
Funeral services were held at the Hammel Funeral Home, with full military honors by the American Legion, Monday afternoon, and burial was on the family lot in Lynwood Cemetery, with the Rev. R. B. Fisher, pastor of the Community Church, officiating.
