Isaac N. Neal, one of the community’s best and oldest citizens passed away at his home in Allison Sunday afternoon in the 75th year of his age. “Ike” Neal was a familiar figure in the upbuilding of this community, having been a resident of the county nearly 50 years. Until recently he was engaged in farming. He also operated a threshing machine and had a record of close to 50 consecutive seasons as a thresherman. He also engaged in the business of house-moving and was employed on work of this nature in all parts of the county. When the county seat was changed from Butler Center to Allison, it was “Ike” Neal who moved the buildings. In that year he moved 40 dwelling houses and store buildings to the new town of Allison.

Funeral services were held in the Associated churches Wednesday afternoon at 2 o’clock by the Rev. Richard S. Haney. The local Masonic lodge attended in a body and had charge of the burial rites at the cemetary.

Isaac Newton Neal was born in Ohio on April 28, 1849. While still a boy he moved with his parents to Butler county, Iowa, where he grew to manhood. In the year 1868 he was united in marriage to Miss Bessie Boylan and to this union two children were born, Arthur Neal of Bristow and Mrs. Charles Klinetob of near Allison.

After a few years his wife was called in death and on September 16, 1877 he was married to Kate Moffat. Five children were born to this union: Mrs. A.J. McMahon of Adams, Minnesota; Mrs. L.C. Clarke of Keithsburg, Illinois; Frank Neal of Allison; Robert Neal of Fresno, California and a daughter, Ethel who died January 13, 1911. His wife was called to her reward June 18, 1911.

In the spring of 1918 he left the farm and resided with his son Frank until his death. On August 15 he suffered a paralytic stroke and passed away at 3:30 P.M. August 26.
