It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of 83-year-old Elizabeth L. Johnson, formerly of New Hartford, on Friday, Jan. 21, 2011. She was at Clare Bridge Memory Center, Highlands Ranch, Colo. Her passing was very peaceful as she was with her husband Al and her two daughters Shirley and Theresa.

Liz was born in Fairbank on April 2, 1927. She graduated from Parkersburg High School. Liz married Al Johnson on May 5, 1947. Last year they celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary. After losing their home in a tornado on May 25, 2008, they moved to Waterloo. In April of 2009 they once again moved to be closer to their daughters in Colorado.

After many years of living apart from her daughters, Liz was able to enjoy time with them on a daily basis over the last 21 months. Her social nature and sense of humor endeared her to all those whose lives she touched. Liz was a loving and spirited wife and a mother who bestowed unconditional love on her children. Her compassion was endless and she willingly helped anyone in need. Liz loved meeting new people, experiencing new adventures, and was sure not to miss a dance. She will be greatly missed.

Liz is survived by her husband, Albert F. Johnson Jr. of Littleton, Colo.; her daughters, Shirley Walters (Darrell) of Pine, Colo., and Theresa Johnson also of Littleton; and her brother, Norman Card of Ellsworth.

She was predeceased by her son, Dewey Johnson of Cedar Falls.

Al, Shirley and Theresa wish to express their sincere appreciation for the kind expressions of sympathy, phone calls and cards during this time of sorrow.

Services will be held at a later date. Redman Schwartz Funeral Home, Parkersburg, is in charge arrangements.
