GREENE - Nola Melverna Wunsch, 97, of Greene, died Wednesday, Feb. 16, at Liebe Care Center in Greene.

She was born July 12, 1913, on a farm southwest of Geneva, daughter of Frank G. and Myrtle Johnson Kurtz. She married Paul F. Wunsch Sept. 16, 1939, at Methodist Church in Fort Dodge. He died Oct. 1, 1999.

She graduated from Geneva Consolidated School in 1931. She attended Iowa State Teacher's College in Cedar Falls and taught in rural schools in Franklin County for eight years. She helped make tents for the troops during World War II in Fremont, Neb. She was a substitute teacher in the Bristow, Greene and other rural schools in the area. She was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church.

Survived by: three sons, Marlyn (Sharon), Dennis (Donna) of Greene and Don (Sue) of Ankeny; 10 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by: an infant son, Larry; and two brothers, Chester and Allan Kurtz.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Peter Lutheran Church, with burial in Rose Hill Cemetery, both in Greene.

Public visitation from 4 to 6 p.m. today at Reid's Funeral Chapel, Greene, with a 6 p.m. service of remembrance.
