Alice Saathoff, 103, formerly of New Hartford, died Sunday, Jan. 16, at Cedar Falls Health Care Center, Cedar Falls.

She was born Nov. 1, 1907, in Butler County near Parkersburg, daughter of Elso and Harmka Williams Van Hauen. She married George Saathoff on June 20, 1933, at the Little Brown Church, Nashua. He died May 30, 1986.

Mrs. Saathoff farmed with her husband near Shell Rock, retired in 1963 and moved to New Hartford.

Survived by: a daughter, Jo Ann Slifka of Waterloo; two grandchildren, Wanda (Gary) Lenius and Wendel Slifka; and nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by: three brothers, Henry and Harm Van Hauen, and Theodore Van Hauen in infancy; a sister, Hattie; her sisters-in-law; and several nieces and nephews.

Services: 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Richardson Funeral Home, Cedar Falls, with burial in Oak Hill Cemetery, New Hartford.

Public visitation from 10 a.m. until services Wednesday at the funeral home.
