Ruby Jean Rasmussen, 89, of New Hartford, died Tuesday, Jan. 18, at Shell Rock Care Center, Shell Rock.

She was born June 30, 1921, in Bennington Township, Black Hawk County, daughter of William Henry and Emma Josphine Jacobs Ferguson. She married Henry "Hank" Rasmussen on July 12, 1941, in Kirksville, Mo. He died June 24, 1978.

Mrs. Rasmussen graduated from Waterloo East High School, Waterloo, then worked at Rath Packing Co. She was a homemaker for a number of years and also did babysitting in her own home. She worked at Sartori Memorial Hospital, Cedar Falls, and later worked at the New Hartford Library. She was a member of the Eastern Star and of the United Methodist Church, New Hartford.

Survived by: two daughters, Lynne (Mel) Anderson of Waverly and Lynda Barbian of Marion; four grandchildren, Brian Anderson, Chris (Shelley) Anderson, Jeanne-Marie Barbian and Mike Barbian; three great-grandchildren, Annabel, Madilynne and Lucy; a sister, Carole (Bill) Bouska of Costa Mesa, Calif.; two sisters, Kathryn Corwin and Marge Speicher, both of Waterloo; and two brothers, Glenn Ferguson of Oakland, Calif., and Bob (Donna) Ferguson of Waterloo.

Preceded in death by: a brother, Roger Ferguson; and a sister, Betty Reeves.

Graveside Services: 11 a.m. Friday at Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens, Cedar Falls.

Public visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home, Waverly.

Memorials: may be directed to the Salvation Army or Martin Memorial Library in New Hartford, in lieu of flowers.

Ruby enjoyed reading, knitting and baking.
