Delene Faye Tjabring, 70, of Aplington, died at home Tuesday, Jan. 18, of natural causes.

She was born Oct. 17, 1940, in Aplington, daughter of Albert and Lena Engelkes Siebrands. She married Richard Tjabring on Dec. 12, 1959, in Cedar Falls. He died Sept. 26, 2005.

Mrs. Tjabring graduated from Aplington High School in 1959. She was a homemaker, worked at Maple Manor Nursing Home in housekeeping, was a longtime cook at Aplington Community Schools and also cooked at Kesley Cafe for a year until it closed. She was a member of Aplington Baptist Church.

Survived by: two sons, Randall (Sheryl) and Mark (Jodi), both of Aplington; two daughters, Laura (Todd) Thompson of Aplington and Lisa (Mark) Crandall of Ankeny; and nine grandchildren.

Preceded in death by: an infant daughter, Mary Beth; and a brother, Dalen Siebrands.

Services: 1:30 p.m. Friday at Aplington Baptist Church, with burial in Pleasant View Cemetery, Aplington.

Public visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the church. Redman-Schwartz Funeral Chapel, Aplington, is in charge of the arrangements.
