Gerdena Jeanette Mudderman

Gerdena Jeanette Mudderman, age 82, formerly of Parkersburg, Iowa, was born the daughter of Folkert and Nettie (Eilderts) Jungling on September 26, 1927, rural Aplington, Iowa. She received her education from the Aplington Consolidated School and graduated high school in 1945.

On September 26, 1946, Gerdena was united in marriage with Gratus William Mudderman at her parent’s home, rural Aplington. They made their home and farmed near Stout, Iowa and later near Kesley, Iowa. Gerdena was a wonderful homemaker and farmwife. In 1969 they moved to an acreage near Parkersburg. Gerdena worked as a payroll clerk for the University of Northern Iowa for 21 years and retired in 1990.

Currently she was a member of the Hope Reformed Church in Parkersburg, where she was an organist, was a member of the Ladies Guild RCW, and Silver Threads a church social group. They also had been members of the Bethel Reformed Church, rural Aplington, where she was the organist for many years and had helped with Sunday school.

In her spare time Gerdena enjoyed sewing and quilting, and made her children and every grandchild their own special quilt. She also enjoyed planting and tending to her large flower garden every year. She especially loved spending time with her family and always looked forward to their next visit.

Gerdena died Friday, September 03, 2010, at the Cedar Falls Lutheran Home in Cedar Falls, Iowa of natural causes.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gratus, on March 5, 1992; her parents; and one brother, Gerald Jungling.

Gerdena is survived by two sons, LaVern (Pam) Mudderman of Parkersburg, IA, and Dave (Diane) Mudderman of Fairbank, IA; one daughter, Jan Mudderman of Des Moines, IA; seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, Heidi (Jim) Kieler and their children Matthew and Jacob, Nikki (Chad) Oldenburger and their children Nicholas and Noah, Jarrod (Whitney) Mudderman and their children Kayura, Auna, Remi, and Gage, Dustin (Kelli) Mudderman and their children Reagan, Dalton, and Rylee, Theresa (Kasey) Schmitt, Derik Mudderman, and Autumn (Michael) Clark; two sisters, Esther Jungling of Waterloo, IA, and Carol (Arlen) Kromminga of Aplington, IA; and a sister-in-law, Mary Ann Jungling of Aplington, IA.

Funeral Services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, at Hope Reformed Church with burial in the Oak Hill Cemetery, both in Parkersburg.

Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at the Redman-Schwartz Funeral Home in Parkersburg.
