Funeral services for Roberta May Barth, 91, of Greene, will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, August 21, 2010, at the First Presbyterian Church in Greene with Pastor John Hanna officiating. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Greene.

Visitation will be 4:00 - 8:00 p.m., Friday, August 20, 2010, at Reid's Funeral Chapel, 519 N. First St. Greene, where there will be a 7:00 p.m. Prayer Service and Time of Remembrance.

Visitation will continue at the church for one hour prior to services.

Roberta May Boyd was born May 27, 1919, in Benezette Township, Butler County, near Aredale, Iowa , a daughter of Robert and Sarah (Courtney) Boyd and died Tuesday, August 17, 2010, at the Liebe Care Center in Greene.

She attended rural school near Aredale moving to Greene in the 7th grade. She graduated in 1937 from Greene High School. Roberta took the Normal Training Teachers's Course and passed her state test. She taught in Dayton Township for 2 years and Jefferson Township for 1 year.

Roberta was united in marriage to Darrel Barth in May of 1940. They farmed north of Greene for 5 years. They then moved to town where Darrel worked for Barth Chevrolet. They were the parents of Bob, Jerry, Kenny, Harry, Barbara and Linda. She has been blessed with 18 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren.

Roberta dearly loved all of them and was glad to have them come and visit her. Roberta was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and the afternoon church circle. She was a member of the Round Grove Golf and Country Club and enjoyed golfing. She traveled to Florida for 25 years, fished Lake Mille Lac in Minnesota and valued the time spent with family and friends.

Living family members include one daughter: Barbara (Jim) Killoran of Dubuque; three sons: Bob and (Rita) Barth of Greene, Kenny Barth of Clarion, and Harry (Jean) Barth of Solon; 18 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law: Charlotte O'Brian of Greene; one brother-in-law: Alfred Rocanti of Massachuset.

She was preceded in death by her husband Darrel in 2005; her parents, son Jerry in 1977; daughter Linda in 2005; brother Bert Boyd; sisters: Elsie Merrill, Ruth Keifer, Hazel Kielman, Esther Elliott, Mable Majewski, and Dorothy Rocanti.
