Frank Friday, age 91, of Shell Rock, died Thursday, April 5th, 2007 at his daughters home in Akeley, Minnesota, of Congestive Heart & Renal Failure.

Frank was born on August 29, 1915, in Quincy, Illinois, the son of Howard and Hattie Friday.

Frank attended school in Quincy and following his schooling work as a hired hand for area farmers in Quincy. On May 1, 1942, Frank was united in marriage to Fern M. Campbell in Salina, Kansas. On January 16, 1942, Frank entered the U.S. Army during WWII, where he served as a Medic.

Following his discharge on January 11, 1946, the couple made their home in Joplin, Missouri, where Frank worked as an auto-mechanic for O.B. White. Frank then went to work for Eagle Pitcher as a lab technician for 36 years retiring in 1977. In 1978, the couple moved to Dunkerton, Iowa, moving to Shell Rock, Iowa in 1986. On December 26, 2006, Frank and Fern moved to Akeley, Minnesota to live with their daughter and son-in-law, Alvina and Paul.

Frank was a member of the Shell Rock United Methodist Church. Frank loved anything mechanical, collecting clocks and woodworking, but most of all enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grand and great grandchildren.

Frank is survived by his wife, Fern of Shell Rock, Iowa, one daughter and her husband, Alvina and Paul Watson of Akeley, Minnesota; 3 grandchildren and their families, Keith (Tina) Watson and their children, Hailey, Katie and Lindsey of Clarksville, Kim (Kevin) Wittfoth and their daughter, Nicole of Waverly, Craig (Merri) Watson and their son, Nick of Shell Rock.

Frank was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Hattie and 2 sisters.

Celebration of Life Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 11, 2007 at the Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Shell Rock with Pastor Richard Layman officiating.

Burial will be in the Riverside Cemetery in Shell Rock.

Public visitation will be held on Wednesday from 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m. at the Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Shell Rock.

Memorials may be directed to the Friday family.
