Janice Carol Remley, 69, of rural Parkersburg, Iowa, died peacefully at her home on Sunday morning, April 29, 2007 from complications of cancer.

Janice was born on April 26, 1938 in rural Waverly, Iowa, the daughter of Emil and Elenore (Griese) Redies.

She was baptized on May 15, 1938 and confirmed in 1952 all at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church – Artesian, rural Waverly. Janice attended school at Frederika High School. On March 23, 1985, Janice was united in marriage to Mervin Remley at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Charles City. The couple made their home near Parkersburg, Iowa. Janice was employed at Dodger Manufacturing for about 6 years and then at Omega Cabinets from 1998 until her retirement in 2001.

Janice was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church in Parkersburg. She enjoyed crafts, gardening, fishing, sewing, quilting, and camping.

Janice is survived by her husband, Mervin of rural Parkersburg; four sons, Jeff (Elaine) Waterman of Thornfield, Missouri, Robert Waterman of Frederika, Iowa; Tom (Laurie) Waterman of New Hampton; Daniel (Trilby) Waschkat of Waverly; four daughters, Kim Fox of Frederika, Jody (Kirk) Meyer of Frederika, Sue (Ron) Lienau of Ossian, Tamera (Bob) Weston of Denver; two step-children, Andrew (Catherine) Remley of Shell Rock, Amy Remley of Sumner; 22 grandchildren; 4 step-grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; brother, Eugene (Carolyn) Redies of Frederika; brother-in-law, Kenneth Latwesen of Fredericksburg and by several nieces and nephews.

Janice was preceded in death by her parents, and sister, Marian Latwesen.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, May 3, 2007 at 11:00 am at Bethel Lutheran Church in Parkersburg, with Pastor Paul Schaedig officiating.

Burial will be in the Willow Lawn Cemetery in Plainfield.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Waverly, Iowa.

Memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice or Waterloo Cancer Center.
