Nelson “Douglas” Grandon, age 58, of Aplington, died Saturday, August 4, 2007 at his home.

Doug was born on November 7, 1948 in Cedar Falls, Iowa, the son of Nelson and Violet Sells Grandon.

He was raised in New Hartford and graduated from the New Hartford High School. Doug then attended the Faith Baptist Bible College. During his life, Doug lived in New Hartford, Waterloo, Parkersburg, and Aplington where he worked for various factories. Doug’s enjoyments included listening to music, plaster craft painting, bird watching and attending auctions and farm sales. He attended the First Baptist Church in New Hartford.

Doug’s memory is honored by his mother Violet Grandon of New Hartford, two brothers, Dallas Grandon and wife Chin of Georgia and Miles Grandon and wife Mary of Kelsey, one sister Roma Ries and husband Mike of Parkersburg, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father Nelson C. Grandon.

Doug’s body has been cremated and memorial services will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday, August 7th at the Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Waverly with Reverend Ben Epley officiating.

Friends can visit the family one hour prior to the service.
