Leroy Reiter, age 75, of Shell Rock, died of cancer on Monday, August 20, 2007 at the Shell Rock Health Care Center in Shell Rock.

Leroy was born on November 27th, 1931 near Fern, Iowa the son of Anton and Lena Rewerts Reiter.

He was raised in rural Fern, Iowa and attended the Beaver #8 country school and later the Dike school. Leroy worked as a farm hand, for the Hampton canning factory, and as an electrician for Titus, Pries, and Waterloo Industries where he retired on May 4, 1993. On June 3, 1993 Leroy was united in marriage to Sydney Clemens at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Leroy’s enjoyments included hunting, fishing, traveling, welding, classic cars, tractors, and working on motors. He always had to be tinkering with something and if it was broke he could fix it. Leroy was a past member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Hampton and the Shell Rock Lions Club.

Leroy’s memory is honored by his wife Sydney of Shell Rock, two sisters, Gertie Luhring of Cedar Falls and Esther (Richard) Eisentrager of Dumont, a brother, Alvin (Betty) Reiter of Ackley, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, Etta Eiklenborg – Borneman, Jeanette Meester, and Alma Bergmann, and two brothers, Laurence and Fred Reiter.

Funeral services will be held at 1 P.M. on Thursday, August 23, 2007 at the Faith Lutheran Church in Shell Rock with Pastor Bill Carpenter officiating.

Interment will follow at the Oak Hill Cemetery in Parkersburg.

Visiting hours will be held from 5 until 7 P.M. on Wednesday, August 22, at the Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Shell Rock.

A memorial fund has been established in Leroy’s name.
