Susan Mary Brodie, 56, of Shell Rock, Iowa, died on Saturday, June 21, 2008 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City, Iowa.

Susan was born on July 15, 1951, in Cedar Falls, Iowa, the daughter of Leslie and Eunice (Luck) Christiansen.

She attended and graduated from New Hartford High School in 1969. After high school she worked at Plastronics in Grundy Center and then Rada Manufacturing. In 1981, she attended Pitzies Beauty School in Waterloo. She then went on to Hawkeye Tech in Waterloo, Iowa. She was united in marriage to Charles Max Brodie in New Hartford, Iowa and they were later divorced. She later was united in marriage to Dirk Kermit Miller and he died in 2003. Susan started working at the Shell Rock Care Center in 1999 and in 2004 she was forced to quit due to ill health.

Susan enjoyed sewing, crafts, crocheting, and riding horses. During the time she was sick she continued to have strong family values and was strong willed. She had a positive attitude that was truly an inspiration to her family and friends.

Susan is survived by her two sons, John Brodie and Christopher Miller both of Shell Rock, Iowa; three brothers, David and Daniel Christiansen both of New Hartford, Iowa; Jeffrey Christiansen and his wife, Patti of Tecumseh, Oklahoma; one sister, Louise Vance of Clarksville, Iowa; several nieces and nephews and her beloved dog, Kira Lou.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a still born son, Michael Brodie and her husbands, Charles Brodie in 2001 and Dirk Miller in 2003.

Memorial services will be held on Thursday, June 26, 2008 at 1:30 pm at the Church of Christ, Clarksville, Iowa.

The family will greet friends an hour before services on Thursday at the church.

Burial of her cremains will be held at later date in Oak Hill Cemetery, New Hartford, Iowa.

Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home, Waverly assisted the family.
