Wilma Jean (Davis) (Fitzgerald) Jurgens, 72, of Shell Rock, Iowa passed away suddenly on Saturday, August 22, 2009 at her home in Shell Rock.

Wilma was born on August 22, 1937, the daughter of John and Nellie (Murphy) Davis in Shell Rock, Iowa.

She attended Shell Rock Elementary and graduated from Clarksville High School in 1955. In 1957, she was united in marriage to Herman Fitzgerald and the couple later divorced in 1969. In 1973, she started to work at the Waverly Health Center in the laundry and housekeeping. On November 12, 1977, she was united in marriage to Robert Jurgens in Clarksville, Iowa. The couple made their home in Shell Rock. After 26 years of service, Wilma retired from the Waverly Health Center on December 31, 1999. Following her retirement, she worked at the Shell Rock Health Care Center in the kitchen, for 1 ½ years.

She was a member of the Shell Rock United Methodist Church. Wilma enjoyed fishing, spoiling her grandchildren and great grandchildren, playing on the internet and her dog, Misty. Wilma had three nicknames used by her family, Shorty, Short fat fanny and Granny.

Survivors are her two daughters, Julie Fitzgerald (Randy) Craig of Mason City, Iowa and Karla Fitzgerald (Tom) Cuvelier of Shell Rock, Iowa; four grandchildren, Kristin(Mike) Limkemann, Jessie, Andy and Sam Cuvelier; four great grandchildren, Olivia, Aleah and Hailey Limkemann and Malachi Cuvelier; sister, Viola (Chris) Gersema of New Hartford, Iowa and brother, Ronald Roberts of Sierra Vista, Arizona.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Herman Fitzgerald in 1982; her second husband, Robert Jurgens on October 29, 1992; six sisters, Mavis Doty, Verda League, Clara Klebs, Dorothy Wade, Pauline Wheelan and Lucille Haber; and five brothers, Fred, Verlan "Bud", Jerry, Victor Davis and Paul Roberts.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 27, 2009 at 2:00 pm at the Shell Rock Untied Methodist Church.

Burial will follow in the Riverside Cemetery in Shell Rock.

Friends may call from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Wednesday at the Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Shell Rock and one hour prior to services on Thursday at the church.

Memorials may be left to the family's discretion.
