Funeral services for James Randall Reed, 64, formerly of Greene, will be 1:00 p.m., Monday, April 19, 2010, at Reid’s Funeral Chapel, 519 N. First St. Greene, with Pastor Ben Hartwig officiating.

Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Greene, with Military Honors conducted by Tack-Barnett Post 268 American Legion of Greene.

Visitation will be 3:00 - 5:00 p.m., Sunday, April 18, 2010, at Reid’s Funeral Chapel and will continue one hour before services on Monday.

James Randall Reed was born August 15, 1946, in Greene, Butler Co., Iowa, a son of Donald Garfield and Eleanor Elaine (Flora) Reed and died Friday, April 16, 2010, at his residence in Walcott, Iowa.

He received his education in Greene graduating from Greene High School in 1963. James enlisted into the United States Navy in July of 1963. He was honorably discharged in September of 1966.

James lived around Greene and the surrounding area but also lived in Colorado, and Kansas. He drove truck and managed a trucking compay.

He was united in marriage to Carol Herman on October 5, 1964 in Brunswick, GA. He later married Marge Matthes on April 30, 1983.

James enjoyed fishing, hunting, driving truck and traveling the open road.

He is survived by his wife, Marge of Albert Lea, MN; Children: Brenda Reed of Indianola, Michele (Timothy) Casey of Mason City, Julie (Mark) Drillings of Nashua, Joe (Maggie) Hoy, of CA; Jessica Shreve, of Grand Junction, CO., Renae Shores of Waverly; 8 Grandchildren: Michael Gonzales, Sarah Casey, Ryan Casey, Samantha (Jason) Koskie, RaAnn Shoars, Davail Shoars, Holly Shoars, Jimmy Shreve, 8 Great Grandchildren his Mother: Eleanor Reed of Greene; Sister: Donna (Dennis ) Wunsch of Greene; two Brothers: Gary (Debbie) Reed of McFarland, WI; Steve
(Donice) Reed of Chandler, AZ; Brother-in-law: David Botterbrodt of Bellavista, AK; Special Friend: Helen Price of Walcott, IA, Special Aunt Arlene Reed Puhl of Charles City.

Preceded in death by one infant son, his Father: Don Reed; Sister: Barbara Botterbrodt; Great Grandchild Rylie Huxsol; Son-in-law: Mark Huxsol; Grandson: Ryan Shoars

Memorials may be sent to the James Randall Reed Memorial Fund in care of the family.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Reid's Funeral Chapel, 519 N. First St. Greene, IA 50636.
