Richard Allen "Rik" Ebner, 39, of St. Louis, formerly of Lancaster, Pa., died Tuesday, April 13, at his home.

He was born on Nov. 28, 1970, in Lancaster, Pa., son of Richard Dale and Anne Elizabeth Sunday Ebner.

He attended McCaskey High School in Lancaster; Job Corps Center, Hazelton, Pa.; Empire Beauty School, Lancaster, where he received his certificate in cosmetology; Belleville Community College, where he received his associate's degree in philosophy; and Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, Ill., where he received a bachelor's degree in philosophy. He taught at the community college in Carbondale while working on his master's degree in philosophy.

Mr. Ebner was a security guard for entertainment venues and music festivals with B. and D. Security in St. Louis. He was stage manager for the band, Vitamen A. He volunteered for Tapestry of Community Offerings, where he assisted in raising funds and awareness for children and families in need in the St. Louis area, and was currently the manager of TNT Design in St. Louis.

Survived by: his mother, the Rev. Anne Sunday of Clarksville; his father, Richard (Kate) Ebner of Myerstown, Pa.; a partner of six years, Ashley Gumz of Waterloo, Ill.; a brother, Dale (Jodi) of Lancaster; and his grandparents, James and Mary Sunday of Grinnell.

Preceded in death by: his grandparents, Wes and Jenny Ebner.

Service of Remembrance and Celebration: 3 p.m. Sunday, May 2, at First United Church of Christ-Pleasant Valley, rural Clarksville, with burial in Pleasant Valley Cemetery.

There will be no public visitation. The family will greet friends for an hour before services at the church. Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home, Waverly is in charge of arrangements.

Rik enjoyed listening to Grateful Dead music and spending time with his dogs Boo and Sassafras. He was a motorcycle enthusiast, loved to cook and enjoyed nature and the outdoors as his two favorite spots were his father's cabin in northern Pennsylvania and the beach in Ocean City, Md.
