Louise I. Lalan, 84, of Shell Rock, Iowa passed away on Wednesday, April 14, 2010 at the Shell Rock Health Care Center in Shell Rock, Iowa.

Louise Irene (Yarcho) Lalan was born on May 13, 1925, at the farm in Shell Rock, Iowa. She attended school in Yoakum, Texas, East Houston, Texas, Whitney, Texas, Hillsboro, Texas and Shell Rock, Iowa. Louise faithfully cared for her mother, Lydia Yarcho until her death in March 1974.

On September 14, 1974 she was married to F. Kenneth Lalan. They lived on their farm west of Shell Rock until Kenneth passed away April 4, 1995. Mrs. Lalan continued to live in the farm house until Sept. 2008 when she moved into the Shell Rock Care Center.

She is survived by one sister, Norma Lee and Joseph E. Hudspith of Flower Mound, TX. Locally nieces are Patty Moore, Pam Kyhl, Joan Ackerson and a nephew Bob Yarcho. Across the U.S. she also has many other nieces and nephews. Mrs. Lalan also has a step daughter, Patty and Bill Jungling of Dumont as well as their daughter, Lisa and Todd Lewis and their two sons Dustin and Zachary.

Mrs. Lalan was also preceded in death by her parents, William E. Yarcho, Lydia L. Yarcho, sister, Ruth Goar, brothers Paul, Floyd, Albert, and Robert Yarcho.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 19, 2010 at 11:00 am at Grace Baptist Church in Waverly, Iowa with Pastor James E. Lee officiating.

Burial will be in the Coster Cemetery in rural Shell Rock, Iowa.

Friends may call from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm on Sunday at the Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Shell Rock, Iowa and also an hour prior to services on Monday at the church.
