HEITLAND, MULLER, CUNNINGHAM, FISCHELS, PEXA, PETERS, GARDINER

Marvin A. Heitland, 78, of rural Parkersburg, died Saturday, March 27, at home.

He was born June 20, 1931, near Sheffield, son of George and Rebecca Muller Heitland. He married Barbara Cole on Sept. 14, 1958, at First United Methodist Church, Cedar Falls.

Mr. Heitland graduated from Aplington High School in 1950 and served in the U.S. Army from 1952 to 1954 in the 1st Calvary Division as a radio operator, stationed in Japan. He did carpentry and maintenance work throughout his lifetime.

Survived by: his wife; a son, Jim (Deborah) of Marion; a daughter, Donna (Paul) Cunningham of Waterloo; three grandchildren, Sarah (Monte) Fischels, Amanda Pexa and Jonathan Heitland; four great-grandchildren, Shawn, Kendra, Trae and Serenity; a sister, Miriam (Benton) Peters of Aplington; and two sisters-in-law, Audrey Heitland of Aplington and Marcia (Paul) Gardiner of Waverly.

Preceded in death by: his parents; and two brothers, Russell and Alvin.

Services: 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, Cedar Falls, with burial in Hudson Cemetery, Hudson. Public visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorials: may be directed to the family.

Marvin was very proud of the home that he built, where he and Barbara were residing.
