Rev. W. L. Hawn Dies Friday, Services Today
COLFAX – Funeral services for the Rev. Woodworth Lent Hawn, 75, a resident of Colfax since 1968 and Colfax minister from 1953 to 1957, were held today at the United Methodist Church in Colfax.
The Rev. Willard O. Peterson of Fort Madison conducted the services. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery in Shell Rock.
Masonic services were held Sunday at Walters Funeral Home in Colfax.
Survivors are his wife; a son, Wayne Woodworth of Lincolnton, GA; two daughters, Mrs. Vernon Stodden of Colfax, and Mrs. James (Norma Jean) Warnock of Mitchellville; 19 grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. E. J. Hannah of Port Charlotte, Fla.
The Rev. Mr. Hawn was a member of the United Methodist Church, Gebal Chapter of Newton, Scottish Rite of Sioux City, American Legion of Colfax, Order of Eastern Star of Colfax and Obedience No. 380 of Anita and was past state chaplain of the American Legion.
The Rev. Mr. Hawn had served in Iowa and Minnesota churches.
The son of Charles Hamilton and Ella Mae Cave Hawn, he was born June 8, 1897 in Dayton and was a 1916 graduate of Shellsburg High School. He attended Cornell College at Mount Vernon and Garrett Seminary.
He was married to Adeline Lulu Metzger Feb. 22, 1923 at Hansell.
The Rev. Mr. Hawn died Friday at the Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines.
