Russell Dean Hovenga, 64, of Hampton, Iowa, passed away March 6, 2010, at his home in Hampton, Iowa. He was born on August 12, 1945, in Dumont, Iowa, to Sweer and Loraine (Card) Hovenga.

Russell attended school in Ackley, Iowa. He was united in marriage to Marilyn Maddox on January 3, 1966, in Hampton. Russell worked as a laborer for Seabee Corporation in Hampton. He was affiliated with the Heartland Vineyard Church in Cedar Falls. Russell enjoyed fishing, gardening, going for rides to look for deer, eagles and turkeys, visits to Arizona and especially going to his grandchildren’s sporting activities.

He is survived by his wife Marilyn Hovenga of Hampton, son Reggie (Shelley) Hovenga of Cedar Falls, daughter Karen Hovenga of Tempe, Arizona, grandchildren Jacob, Joshua, Hannah, Mary, Josiah, Grace, Naomi, Hope, Elizabeth and Honor, brothers Paul Hovenga of Hampton and Larry Hovenga of Denver, Colorado and sisters Beverly Perez of Hampton and Phyllis Frazier of Cedar Falls.

Russell was preceded in death by his parents Sweer and Loraine, brothers David, Jerome and Jerry, sister Janice, nephews Dick and Danny Perez and Paul Hovenga Jr. and great nephews Dillon Walterman and Nicholas Mack.
