Frank Richard Parker
December 12, 1947 - May 27, 2015

Frank Richard Parker, age 67, of Storm Lake, Iowa, died on May 27, 2015, at the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake.

A son of Robert and June (Piercy) Parker, Frank was born on December 12, 1947, in Storm Lake, Iowa. Baptized and confirmed at the Congregational Church in Newell, he attended school in Newell, graduating from Newell Providence High School in 1966. While in high school, he lived with his aunt and uncle, Bill and Grace Wessendorf, for a couple years.

On February 13, 1967, Frank enlisted in the United States Army. After five years of active duty, he joined the United States Army Reserves. He served in both Vietnam and Operation Desert Storm, attaining the rank of E-7 S.F.C. He retired after twenty-two and a half years of service to his country. Next, he went to work for UPS, retiring in 1998 with twenty-seven years of service.

In 1975, Frank married Evelyn Gailey in Clear Lake, Iowa. Subsequently, they raised two children: Molly and Jamie.

In 1998, he moved to New Braunfels, Texas, where he worked at the Zoeller Funeral Home. In 2000, he graduated from San Antonio Mortuary College as a funeral director.

In 2006, Frank and Evelyn moved back to Storm Lake to be closer to Molly and Jamie. In April of 2007, Evelyn passed away suddenly.

Frank worked part time at Bodholdt Plumbing and Heating, Casey’s General Store, and the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home where he operated the Heritage Cremation Center.

On November 22, 2008, Frank married Judy Randall in Storm Lake with family and friends present. At that time, Frank accepted Judy’s three children, Scott, Tammie, and Tim, as his own.

Frank was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Storm Lake and a longtime member of Disabled American Veterans and the Alta VFW.

In his spare time, he enjoyed working around the house, doing yardwork, and helping Judy in her flower garden. Frank loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Judy Parker, of Storm Lake, Iowa; his stepchildren: Scott (Gale) Randall, of Storm Lake, Iowa, Tammie Swanson, of Storm Lake, Iowa, Tim (Tracy) Randall, of Storm Lake, Iowa, Molly Montag, of Newell, Iowa, and Jamie Gailey, of Alta, Iowa; his step grandchildren: Bryce Husske; Andrew (Susie) and Travis Montag; Brady (Casey), Derrick (Rachele), Hayley, Tanner, and Taylor Randall; and Alissa Swanson; his brother, Bob (Margaret) Parker, of Sac City, Iowa; his sister, Margaret (Bill) Frideres, of LuVerne, Iowa; his brothers-in-law: Mike (Doreen) Whalen, of San Antonio, Texas, Doug (Judy) Barnes, of Garland, Texas, and Dave Evans, of Lake Forrest, California; his sister-in-law, Mary Ann Barnes, of Longmont, Colorado; and his aunt and uncle, Bill and Grace Wessendorf, of Newell, Iowa; as well as several nieces, nephews, extended family members, and many friends.

Frank was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and June Parker; his first wife, Evelyn Parker; his son, Robby Parker; his step daughter, Melissa Gailey; his brother-in-law, Norman Barnes; and his sister-in-law, Donna Evans.

Funeral services will be held Monday, June 1, 2015, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Storm Lake. Burial will take place at a later date in the Storm Lake Cemetery. Visitation will be on Sunday, May 31, 2015, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.
