Frank Smith, 82, of Storm Lake, Iowa, died on November 9, 2011, at the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake.
Frank Thomas Smith was born on March 4, 1929, in Sac County, the son of Henry and Marie (Brady) Smith. Growing up, he attended school in Early, graduating from Early Public High School in 1946.
On April 13, 1951, Frank joined the United States Army to serve his country during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged on March 28, 1953.
On February 1, 1958, Frank married Joan Feddersen at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Ida Grove, Iowa. They were blessed with seven children: Tom, Kim, Mary, Mark, Mike, Carol, and Matt.
Frank enjoyed working and raising cattle with his sons. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Joan Smith, of Storm Lake, Iowa; his children: Tom (Sue), Mark (Ellen), and Mike (Becky) Smith, of Storm Lake, Iowa, Kim (John) Clay, of Le Mars, Iowa, Mary (Howard) Natzel, of Eagan, Minnesota, Carol (Matt) Fletcher, of Huxley, Iowa, and Matt (Cami) Smith, of Nixa, Missouri; his grandchildren: Abby, Kelly, Ethan, Nick, Alex, Nick, Max, Eli, Gracie, Cameron and Cole Smith, Chris, Becca, and Kelsey Clay, Alisha, Quinton, and Marissa Natzel, and Sam, Ian, and Joe Fletcher; his brothers: Bill Smith, of Storm Lake, Iowa, Ed (Joyce) Smith, of Arizona; and Father Jim Smith, of Storm Lake, Iowa; his sisters: Eileen (Bob) Martin, of Johnston, Iowa, and Anne (Don) Reisch, and Marilyn (Stan) Hall, of Virginia; and her sister-in-law, Monica Smith; as well as extended family and friends.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Marie Smith; his brothers: Cecil and Joe Smith; and his sisters-in-law, Pat Marvel and Luella Smith.
Visitation: 5:00-8:00 p.m., November 11, 2011, at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake, Iowa,
Vigil Service: 7:00 p.m., November 11, 2011, at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake, Iowa.
Mass of Christian Burial: 12:00 p.m., November 12, 2011, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Storm Lake, Iowa.
