Mathilda "Tillie" Bartels, age 90, of Storm Lake, Iowa, died January 11, 2011, at the Methodist Manor Retirement Community in Storm Lake.

Mathilda “Tillie” Lullmann was born March 24, 1920, in Storm Lake, Iowa, the daughter of John, Sr., and Martha (Sievers) Lullmann. On April 4, 1920, Tillie was baptized at the Zion Lutheran Church in rural Storm Lake where she was later confirmed on March 25, 1934. Growing up, she attended school at Zion Lutheran.

On February 20, 1944, Tillie was united in marriage to Victor F. Bartels at Zion Lutheran Church in rural Storm Lake.

Tillie enjoyed traveling, especially to Arizona in the winter. She loved embroidery and word search puzzles. On Fridays, Tillie enjoyed trips to the country. She treasured her family and spending time with them.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of sixty-six years, Victor Bartels, of Storm Lake, Iowa; her sisters: Anna Hogrefe, of Storm Lake, Iowa, Norma (Arnold) Otto, of Albert City, Iowa, and Edna Rebhuhn, of Albert City, Iowa; her sister-in-law, Neoma Bartels, of Storm Lake, Iowa; nineteen nieces and nephews; as well as extended family and many friends.

Tillie was preceded in death by her parents, John and Martha Lullmann; her parents-in-law, Herman and Marie Bartels; her sisters, Hilda Hogrefe and Lea Kreutz; her brother, John Lullmann, Jr.; her brothers-in-law, Albert Hogrefe, Martin Hogrefe, Fred Kreutz, Raymond Rebhuhn, and Eldo Bartels; her sisters-in-law, Alura Lullmann and Mildred Bartels.

Visitation: 10:00 a.m. January 14, 2011, at Grace Lutheran Church in Storm Lake, Iowa.
Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m. January 14, 2011, at Grace Lutheran Church in Storm Lake, Iowa.
Interment: January 14, 2011, at Zion Lutheran Church in rural Storm Lake, Iowa.
