Reverend Henry Huddleston, age 85, of Storm Lake, Iowa, died January 14, 2011, at the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake.

Henry Huddleston was born July 13, 1925, in Whitman, Massachusetts, the son of Henry W. and Beatrice E. (Little) Huddleston. Growing up, Henry was baptized and confirmed at the United Methodist Church in Whitman.

Henry attended school in Whitman and graduated from Whitman High School in 1943. Following high school graduation in 1943, Henry enlisted in the United States Navy to serve his country during World War II. He was honorably discharged in 1946.

Upon returning home, Henry continued his education, graduating in 1952 with a Law Degree from Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts, and later receiving his Master's of Divinity from Bangor Theological Seminary in Bangor, Maine.

On July 15, 1962, Henry was united in marriage to Marjorie Holmes at the United Methodist Church in Whitman. They were blessed with three children: Mark, Matthew and Holly.

A member of the ACLU, and the NAACP, Henry was very much involved in the Civil Rights movement. Always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need, he was also a member of the Masons and a leader for the Boy Scouts.

He enjoyed different types of dancing including swing and tap. He loved the outdoors, especially hiking, camping, fishing, bird watching and photography. Henry loved spending time with his family and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Those left to cherish his memory include his children: Mark Huddleston, and Matthew (Sara) Huddleston, of Storm Lake, and Holly Huddleston (Patricia Mickunas), of Des Moines; his granddaughter, Alexis Huddleston; his sisters-in-law: Phyllis Huddleston, Gloria Huddleston, Janet Holmes, and Constance Holmes D’Amato; as well as extended family and friends.

Reverend Henry was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Marjorie; two brothers and three sisters.

Visitation: 3-8:00 p.m. January 18, 2011, at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake, Iowa.
Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m. January 19, 2011, at the United Methodist Church in Storm Lake, Iowa.
Interment: January 19, 2011, at the Elmwood Cemetery in Renwick, Iowa.
