Leone E. Buchholz of Truesdale, formerly of Storm Lake, passed away Wednesday, January 21, 2004, at the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake at the age of 79 years, 4 months, and 14 days.

Leone Elizabeth (Gaes) Buchholz was born September 7, 1924, in Ware, Iowa, to Fred and Sylvia Gaes.

She graduated from Storm Lake High School in 1942. After graduation, Leone moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and worked for Cleaver Brooks for several years before returning to the Storm Lake area where she worked as a waitress at the Maple Ways Bowling Alley and the Cobblestone Inn.

They resided on a farm northeast of Storm Lake for 44 years, raising eight children, six boys and two girls.

After the children were grown, Leone worked at Hardees in Storm Lake for ten years and was known to most in Buena Vista County as "Grandma." In 1991, Leone and Walter moved to Truesdale.

Leone enjoyed many activities including playing cards with her sisters-in-law and grandkids, making her special pancakes, and hearing customers call her "Grandma" at Hardees as well as reminiscing about her ten years of service there.

Most of all, she cherished spending time with her family and her friends who loved her dearly. She was a very loving wife, a special mom, and an outstanding grandma. All who knew her will miss deeply.
