Dorothy L. Anderson - Jan. 31, 1916 - Apr. 8, 2007

Dorothy L. Anderson, age 91, of Albert City, Iowa, died on Sunday, April 8, 2007, at the Pleasant View Home at Albert City, Iowa, where she had been a resident for over three years.

Dorothy L. Anderson, the daughter of Oscar and Ellen (Johanson) Anderson, was born in Cerro Gordo County, Iowa, on January 31, 1916. She was baptized on December 22, 1918, and confirmed on May 31,1931, in the Christian faith at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church at Albert City where she continued her membership. Dorothy received her education in the Albert City school and graduated from Albert City High School. For many years, Dorothy assisted her parents in operating the Jack Sprat Food Store in Albert City and she later assumed management of the store. She also sold Shaklee products for many years and was a waitress in the café at the “3 and 71” Truck Stop.

On July 6, 1992, Dorothy was united in marriage to Martin O. Anderson at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church at Albert City. Dorothy took an active part in the Albert City Historical Association. She was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan and enjoyed listening to and watching their games.

Those who cherish her memory include her nephew: Arlyn Anderson of Canoga Park, California; her nephew, Robert Carlson of Storm Lake, Iowa; a step-son, Mark Anderson of Cresco, Iowa; other nieces, nephews, step-grandchildren, extended family, and a host of friends.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Martin; her brother and sister-in-law: LeRoy (Shine) and Nita Anderson; her step-daughter, Vernice Buan; and two nieces, Marlene Carlson and Dorene Anderson.

Services for Mrs. Anderson will be held on Thursday, April 12, 2007, at 1:30 p.m. at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Albert City. Burial will be in Fairfield Township Cemetery at Albert City. The Sliefert Funeral Home in Albert City is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will be held at the church for one hour prior to the service time on Thursday.
