Bill Decker - Dec. 9, 1943 - Mar. 31, 2007

Bernard William “Bill” Decker, age 63, of Rembrandt, Iowa, died Saturday, March 31, 2007, at the Royal C. Johnson Veterans Medical Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

Bill Decker, the son of Bernard R. and Marjorie Jeanette (Watts) Decker, was born at Spencer, Iowa, on December 9, 1943. He received his education at the Linn Grove Consolidated School.

Bill began his career in the construction business with Morton Construction at Cherokee, Iowa, in 1961. He then served his country in the United States Navy in 1962. Following his honorable discharge, Bill was employed as a lineman with various contractors in the Fort Dodge, Iowa, and Minneapolis, Minnesota, areas.

Bill was united in marriage to Kathleen Kay Craig at Jackson, Minnesota, on September 14, 1972, and to this union one daughter, Bridget, was born. From 1969 until June of 1978, Bill was employed in the maintenance department of Spencer Foods at Spencer, Iowa. He completed his working career with B.R.B. Construction of Spencer. Bill was united in marriage to Krystal Rose Marie Sassman on February 2, 1994, at Newell, Iowa, and this couple was blessed with two children: William Benjamin, “BJ”, and Theresa Marie, “Tess.”

Bill was a member for many years of the “Spencer Bunch” and the Sons of Silence Motorcycle Clubs. His special interests included gardening, hunting, and fishing.

Those who cherish Bill’s memory include his wife, Krystal of Rembrandt, Iowa; his daughter, Tess of Rembrandt; his daughter, Bridget, of Los Angeles, California; his sister and brother-in-law, Maureen and Ronald Phelps of Storm Lake, Iowa; other relatives; the “Spencer Bunch” and the Sons of Silence Motorcyle Clubs; and many other friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his son, BJ.

Funeral services for Mr. Decker will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 5, 2007, at the Sioux Rapids Baptist Church. The Sliefert Funeral Home in Sioux Rapids is in charge of the arrangements.
