Julia McKeever - Mar. 2, 1911 - Mar. 27, 2007

Julia McKeever, age 96, of Albert City, Iowa, and formerly of the Linn Grove and Sioux Rapids, Iowa, areas died Tuesday, March 27, 2007, at Pleasant View Home in Albert City.

Julia Thressa Rosdail was born March 2, 1911, in Langford, South Dakota. She was raised and educated in the Langford area and also in Rembrandt and Norway, Iowa, schools. She was a descendant of the Sloopers, the first group of Norwegian immigrants to travel to America aboard the sloop “Restoration” in 1825.

Julia was united in marriage to Virgil “Jack” McKeever on April 2, 1932, in Jackson, Minnesota. The couple farmed northeast of Linn Grove for 48 years. Both were members of the Riverside Presbyterian Church in Linn Grove. In 1974 they retired to Spencer, Iowa. In 1990 they moved to Sioux Rapids and in 1992 celebrated 60 years of marriage. The Pleasant View Care Center in Albert City was Julia’s home from August of 2000 until her death.

Left to cherish her memory are her children: Jill Yriarte, Fort Dodge, Iowa; Jerry (Minnie) McKeever, Sioux Rapids; Jeanette (Dick) Cahalan, Eagle Grove, Iowa; Jackie (Tom) Ball, Sutherland, Iowa; nine grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Julia is also survived by her sister-in-law, Ethel Rosdail; niece Ardis Long; and nephews Larry McKeever and Rick Rosdail.

Julia was preceded in death by her husband, Jack; her parents, Orvie and Dena Rosdail; brothers Harris and Clarence Rosdail; grandson William Jack McKeever; and son-in-law Marty Yriarte.

Funeral services for Mrs. McKeever will be held on Saturday, March 31, 2007, at 10:30 a.m. at the Riverside Presbyterian Church in Linn Grove, Iowa, with Reverend Russell Westbrook officiating. Burial will follow at Barnes Township Cemetery at Linn Grove. The Sliefert Funeral Home in Sioux Rapids is in charge of the arrangements.
