Lucille Haarup - Sept. 17, 1916 - Apr. 11, 2007

Lucille Meredia Haarup, age 90, of Springfield, Missouri, and formerly of Storm Lake, Iowa, stole quietly away April 11, 2007, to go paint with the Master.

Lucille was born September 17, 1916, in Storm Lake, Iowa, to Anna and James Vaughn. She graduated from Storm Lake High School in 1934. On June 12, 1945, Lucille was united in marriage to Cecil Haarup in St. Mary's rectory in Storm Lake. Shortly thereafter the couple left for Long Beach, California, where Cec was employed by Consolidated Steel Corporation. After WW II, they returned to Storm Lake to make their home. Lucille was employed by Northwestern Bell Telephone Company in Storm Lake for 22 years. She retired in the fall of 1971. In 1988, Lucille moved to Springfield, Missouri, to be closer to family. For the past year she had been a resident of Woodland Manor.

Lucille was preceded in death by her parents, husband and an older sister. She is survived by her only brother, Paul Vaughn of Storm Lake; cousins: Phyllis O'Leary and husband Larry, Tamela Corson and husband Marlin, Sherri Adams and son Corey, Rhonda Heyl and son Thomas of Springfield; as well as other relatives and friends.

Graveside services for Mrs. Haarup will be held at Buena Vista Memorial Park Cemetery in Storm Lake at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, April 21, 2007. There will be no visitation. Arrangements are under the direction of the Sliefert Funeral Home in Storm Lake.

The family requests that memorials are directed to the charity of your choice.
