Eva G. Knudtson - Apr. 15, 1926 - Apr. 27, 2007

Eva G. Knudtson, age 81, of Sioux Rapids, Iowa, died on Friday, April 27, 2007, at the Sioux Care Center at Sioux Rapids, Iowa.

Eva G. Wilbur, the daughter of Gilbert and Edith (Kirsch) Wilbur, was born in Swan Lake Township, north of Laurens, Iowa, on April 15, 1926. She lived her youth and received her education at Laurens.

Eva was united in marriage to Richard Morris in April of 1943 at Jackson, Minnesota, and this union was blessed with one daughter, Pamela. On August 5, 1948, Eva was united in marriage to Leonard Knudtson and this union was blessed with a son, Leonard, Jr. Leonard and Eva’s married lifetime was spent in Sioux Rapids where Eva resided in the same home for 57 years. When her children were young, Eva remained at home caring for her husband and children. She later was employed outside the home at various accounting and retail businesses. Her last place of employment was Casey’s in Sioux Rapids. For the last year and a half, Eva had resided at the Sioux Care Center.

Eva was a member of the First United Church of Sioux Rapids and was active in her church by serving in various capacities. She also enjoyed participating in many community organizations and bridge clubs. Special interests of Eva’s included reading, caring for, and watching the birds. She spent many hours during the spring, summer, and fall working in her many flower beds.

Those who will always cherish her memory include her children: Pamela and Norman Moffitt of Sioux Rapids, Iowa, and Leonard, Jr. “Butch” and Darlene Knudtson of Topeka, Kansas; six grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; two brothers: Norman Wilbur of Clarinda, Iowa, and Galen Wilbur of Boliver, Missouri; four sisters: Bernadine (Kendall) Mead of Spencer, Iowa, Beverly Perigo of Truesdale, Iowa, Karen Cross of Spencer, Iowa, and Myrna (Eddie) Bouska of Laurens, Iowa; her sister-in-law, Alice Wilbur of Casa Grande, Arizona; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and a host of friends.

Eva was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Leonard, on June 15, 1988; and one brother, Leo Wilbur.

Funeral services will be 10:30 am, Tuesday, May 1, 2007, at the First United Church in Sioux Rapids, Iowa, with Reverend Tom Petersen officiating. Burial will be in the Lone Tree Cemetery in Sioux Rapids.

Visitation will be from 5-8:00 pm, Monday, April 30, 2007, at the Sliefert Funeral Home in Sioux Rapids where the family will be present from 6-8:00 pm.
