Norma J. Siekman - Sept. 28, 1940 - July 4, 2007

Norma J. Siekman, age 66, of Linn Grove, Iowa, died Wednesday, July 4, 2007, at Countryside Senior Living in Sioux City, Iowa.

Norma Jean Siekman, the daughter of Martin and Delores (Breuer) Schwarz, was born at rural Ashton, Iowa, on September 28, 1940. She spent her early childhood on a farm near Ashton. Norma received her education at the St. Joseph’s Catholic School at Ashton. When Norma was 17, she worked as a nurse’s aid at the Sibley Hospital and later was employed as an aid at the Spencer Municipal Hospital.

She was united in marriage to Dean Siekman on March 31, 1962, in the Jackson County Courthouse at Jackson, Minnesota, and this union was blessed with three children: James, Robert, and Deborah. Norma thoroughly enjoyed the farm life and took an active role in the family’s farming operation. She especially enjoyed driving the tractors and tending to her gardens. Most of Norma’s favorite pastimes revolved around baking, canning, and crocheting. Norma farmed along side of Dean until 1996 when health complications prevented her from continuing to do so. In her free time, Norma enjoyed shopping with her daughter and granddaughter, sharing a cup of coffee with family and friends, playing cards on her computer, and monitoring her email.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 45 years, Dean, of Linn Grove; her son and daughter-in-law: Robert and LuCinda of Linn Grove, and their three sons: Andrew, Eric, and Zach; her daughter, Deborah Heien of Jackson, Minnesota, and her daughter, Rachael; two sisters: Beverly Rozeboom and Jerry Konz, both of Sheldon, Iowa; two brothers: Herman Schwarz of Sheldon, Iowa, and Don Schwarz of Minneapolis, Minnesota; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Norma was preceded in death by her parents; her son, James; and two sisters: Phyllis and Joyce.
