Pauline G. Truesdell - Oct. 30, 1923 - Feb. 7, 2008

Pauline Truesdell, age 84, of Sioux Rapids, Iowa, died Thursday, February 7, 2008 at Avera McKennon Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

Pauline Grace Endsley was born October 30, 1923 in Sioux Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of Earl and Ruby (Holmes) Endsley. She lived her youth in the Sioux Rapids area, where she received her education and graduated from Sioux Rapids High School in 1941. Following high school, Pauline moved to California, where she found employment as a telephone operator. In California, she was married to Thomas Larkin. The couple was blessed with three children: Thomas, Cynthia and James.

Pauline and Tom moved to Florida and lived in Miami for a time. In 1962, the couple moved back to Sioux Rapids. Tom died in 1963. On March 7, 1965, Pauline and Dale Truesdell were united in marriage in Sioux Rapids. They lived their entire married life in the Sioux Rapids area. Pauline served as bookkeeper for their pump sales and service business. She and Dale would have celebrated their 43rd wedding anniversary this coming March.

Pauline enjoyed a wide variety of pursuits, such as fishing, flower gardening and doing her daily crossword puzzles. She was an expert bowler and golfer, and was always proud of the hole in one she sunk on the golf course at Sioux Rapids. Pauline was an avid fan of many sports, but especially of the NFL and Iowa Hawkeyes, for whom she kept her own set of detailed statistical records. Her family, however, was always her first love. A devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Pauline treasured every moment she spent with her family. She was a kind and caring person who will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved her.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Dale, of Sioux Rapids; her son, Tommy Larkin of Tujunga, California; her daughter, Cindy (Brian) Baldwin of Anthon, Iowa; her son, Jimmy (Rowena) Truesdell of Sunland, California; grandchildren: Shannon (Todd) Goettsch, Christa (Jeremy) Blake; Jessica (Calvin) Bruhn, Kayla Carstens, Ryan Baldwin, Candace (Ryan) Jacobson, Brett Baldwin, Tristan Truesdell, Tara Truesdell, Rick Balarosa and Ralph Balarosa; her great-grandchildren: Olivia, Taylor, Trey, Addisyn and Alaina Goettsch and Brynn Jacobson; one sister, Shirley Tomlinson of Salt Lake City, Utah; extended family and many friends.

Pauline was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Thomas; and one sister, Katherine McCarthy.

Memorial services for Mrs. Truesdell will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, February 11, 2008 at First United Church of Sioux Rapids, with Reverend Leela Prince officiating. The Sliefert Funeral Home in Sioux Rapids is in charge of the arrangements.

Friends may call from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 10, 2008 at the Sliefert Funeral Home in Sioux Rapids, where the family will be present during those hours.
