Marie Mack - Sept. 8, 1921 - Feb. 5, 2008

Marie W. Louise Mack, age 86, of Storm Lake, Iowa, was called to her heavenly home from Trinity Regional Medical Center at Fort Dodge, Iowa, on February 5, 2008.

Marie Wilhemine Louise Schofield was born on the family farm near Rockwell City, Iowa, on September 8, 1921, to Fred and Bertha (Ramthum) Schofield. She was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church at Rockwell City. Marie received her education at Jolley, Iowa, graduating from the Jolley High School in 1939.

Marie was united in marriage to Martin Mack, Sr. on May 17, 1942, at Knoke, Iowa. The couple was blessed with nine children: Martin Jr., Anita, Coelet, Kelvin, Sheldon, Renae, Scott, Sandra and Staci.

Marie was employed as a secretary with the United States Soil Conservation Department for 26 years and then was employed at Wal-Mart following her retirement. She enjoyed crocheting, quilting, knitting, and especially enjoyed the company of her family. Marie was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Storm Lake, where she had taught Sunday School, was a member of the church choir, and a member of the Ladies Aid.

Among those who will always cherish Marie’s memory are her husband of 65 years, Martin Mack, Sr. of Storm Lake; her children: Martin (Carolyn) Mack Jr., Anita Mack, Coelet (Ron) Peters, Kelvin Mack, Sheldon (Cindy) Mack, Renae Norwood, Scott Mack, Sandra (Jerry) Bell, Staci (Timothy) Olson; 24 grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, 4 step-great-grandchildren; two sisters: Marge (Carl) Hoefing and Lavon Weise; two brothers: Don (Juanita) Schofield and Duane (Janis) Schofield; sisters-in-law: Lois Oburn, JoAnn (Ron) Bronsema, and Lois Mack; many nieces, nephews and a host of other family and friends.

Marie was preceded in death by her parents; her mother-in-law and father-in-law; a grandson, Terry Lee Peters; one brother, Louis Schofield; three brothers-in-law: James Mack, Norman Mack and Paul Mack; and one sister-in-law, Marie Combs.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Mack will be held on Friday, February 8, 2008, at 10:00 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church in Storm Lake. Burial will be in Buena Vista Memorial Park Cemetery in Storm Lake. The Sliefert Funeral Home of Storm Lake is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation will take place Thursday, February 7, 2008, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Sliefert Funeral Home in Storm Lake, where the family will be present.
