Patricia Ann Botine, age 79, of Storm Lake, Iowa, died on Thursday, April 19, 2018, at the Methodist Manor Retirement Community in Storm Lake.

Patricia Ann Wallin, a daughter of Edwin and Izetta (Booth) Wallin, was born on May 27, 1938, in Webb, Iowa. Baptized and confirmed at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Storm Lake, she attended school in Storm Lake. After graduating from Storm Lake High School, she continued her education at Buena Vista College where she earned a two-year teaching degree. Later, she went back to school to complete a Bachelor’s Degree. On July 9, 1961, she married Richard Botine at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Storm Lake. Subsequently, they were blessed with two children, Brad and Jonna.

Throughout her career, Pat taught at Galva, Newell, and Storm Lake schools from 1967 to 2002. Taking pride in her work, Pat, actively, participated in several organizations including the Storm Lake Education Association, the Iowa State Education Association, and the National Education Association. Pat, also, belonged to the Delta Kappa Sorority and served on the Witter Gallery Board and with the Lake Preservation Association.

When not teaching or advocating for education, Pat enjoyed sewing, cooking, and gardening. Moreover, she absolutely loved her two dogs, Hansel and Gretel. Most of all, however, she loved spending time with her grandchildren.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Richard Botine, of Storm Lake, Iowa; her children, Brad Botine, also of Storm Lake, Iowa, and Jonna (Shane) Schuler, of Bettendorf, Iowa; her grandchildren: Nathan (Lauren) and Matthew Botine and Paige and Brooke Schuler; and her sister-in-law, Elaine Botine of Okoboji, Iowa; as well as cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends. Pat was preceded in death by her parents and a brother-in-law, Roger Botine.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 23, 2018, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Storm Lake. Visitation will take place one hour before the service at the church. Burial will follow at a later date in the Buena Vista Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Storm Lake. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.
