September 20, 1960 - April 17, 2018

Orlan K. Ehlers, age 57, of Laurens, passed away on Tuesday, April 17, 2018, at the Pocahontas Community Hospital in Pocahontas, Iowa.

Orlan was born September 20, 1960, in Marquette, Iowa. At the age of three months, he was adopted by Orville and Irene (Lange) Ehlers. As a child, he attended Zion Lutheran School and then graduated from Albert City-Truesdale High School in 1980. Orlan worked at various jobs around the area before moving to Laurens and taking a job with Jack Links. Because he considered everyone at Jack Links as family, he never knew a stranger, only friends he hadn't met yet.

A member of the Albert City Threshermen’s Organization, he, always, had to have some homemade ice cream before going home. He, also, belonged to Zion Lutheran Church where he enjoyed ringing the bell and the Lions Club. In his younger years, he liked helping his father farm, and he, especially, loved having coffee with his friends.

Survivors include his sisters, Ilon (Jon) Negus, of Sutherland, and Connie (Melvin) Easter, of Somers; his nieces and nephews: Jennifer Easter, Jodie (Bernie) Cockerham, Cellie Easter, and Heath, Karlene, and Sean Negus; his great-niece and nephews: Michael, Gabriel, Brooklyn, and Elijah Cockerham; and his uncle, Dwayne (Phyllis) Ehlers, of Alta; as well as many cousins and friends. Orlan was preceded in death by his parents.
