Frankie Leroy Peterson, age 71, of Newell, Iowa, died on Monday, August 1, 2016, at his home in Newell.

A son of Floyd and Mary (Pattee) Petersen, Frankie was born on October 17, 1944, in Cushing, Iowa. He attended school in Webster City, Iowa. On June 11, 1966, he married Linda Weir in Storm Lake. Subsequently, they were blessed with three children: Michael, Jeffery, and Jimmy. After Linda passed away, Frankie married Karen Gustafson in October of 1999, in Storm Lake.

A member of the Alta CBers, Frankie, also, enjoyed working on the Alta Race Track. In addition, he loved to fish, play with and care for his dogs, work on cars, watch NASCAR, and go junking. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Those left to cherish his memory include his children: Michael (Sherri) Peterson, of Newell, Iowa, Jeffery (Jeanette) Peterson, of Sioux City, Iowa, and Jimmy (Jennifer) Peterson, of Alta, Iowa; his grandchildren: Karla, Christian, Melinda, ZacKariah, Savanah, and Alexander Peterson; his step-grandson, Matthew Stevenson; his step-great grandchildren: Henry and Charlotte Stevenson; his brother, Rodney (Linda) Petersen, of Alta, Iowa; his sister, Patty (Ivan) Rimmer, of Granville, Iowa; his parents-in-law, Alfred and Edna Weir; his brothers-in-law, Jack Potter and Rick Weir; and his sister-in-law, Sandi Weir; as well as a nephew, three nieces, extended family members, and friends.

Frankie was preceded in death by his parents; his wives, Linda and Karen; and his nephew, Joshua Petersen.

Memorial services will be held Monday, August 8, 2016, at 1:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Storm Lake. Burial will follow in the Scandinavian Cemetery at Alta. Visitation will take place Sunday, August 7, 2016, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.
