Judy Lynne Sievers
October 31, 1958 - August 20, 2016Judy L. Sievers, age 57, of Storm Lake, Iowa, died on Saturday, August 20, 2016, in Sioux City, Iowa.
Judy L. Jensen was born on October 31, 1958, to Leland and Shirley (Reed) Jensen in Storm Lake, Iowa. Baptized at the Church of Christ in Storm Lake and later confirmed, she attended school at Storm Lake and graduated in 1977. On February 11, 1978, she married Scott Sievers at the Church of Christ in Alta, Iowa. Subsequently, they were blessed with three children: Bradley, Jill, and Steven.
While raising her children, Judy belonged to the Evangelical Covenant Church of Albert City where she served on the church board for several years as treasurer. Later, she joined Zion Lutheran Church in rural Storm Lake where she served on various committees. In addition, she played the piano and organ for numerous churches, a practice she truly enjoyed.
Judy went from a city girl to a full-fledged farm girl. She worked as the co-owner of Scott Sievers Trucking. Moreover, she loved trucking and working side by side with her husband, Scott. Always up for a challenge, she, also, relished working with wood and remodeling her home. Excited to establish and involve herself within the Storm Lake community, she became a Buena Vista Regional Medical Center Foundation board member and a Lakeside City Council Member. For the past eight years, however, the two of them spent much of their time relaxing on their pontoon boat.
A woman of many talents and hobbies, Judy loved expressing herself through playing the piano. A fantastic cook, she enjoyed having a houseful of people to entertain. For Judy, a loud house meant more memories for everyone! Known for her homemade cards and beautiful quilts, she spent much of her downtime using her creative imagination. In fact, she lovingly made a unique quilt for the birth of each of her nine grandkids. An incredible grandmother, she would drop everything to see her little ones. From fishing and playing catch to cuddling on the couch before bed, Judy epitomized love. With a helpful heart, she was always putting others' needs before her own. She will be deeply missed by everyone who was blessed enough to know and love her.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Scott, of Storm Lake, Iowa; her children: Bradley (Tracy) Sievers, of Plano, Texas, Jill (Eric) Miller, of Bentonville, Arkansas, and Steven (Emily) Sievers, of Albert City, Iowa; her mother, Shirley (Howard) Hatlelid, of Storm Lake, Iowa; her brother, Barry (Lucy) Jensen, of Springfield, Illinois; her sisters, Laurie (Russ) Allen, of Pender, Nebraska, and Diane (Rob) Bonnstetter, of Waukee, Iowa; her grandchildren: Brady, Eliana, Emmett, Knox, and Tate Sievers and Cade, Colton, and Jensen Miller; her father-in-law, Myron Sievers of Albert City, Iowa; her sister-in-law, Deb (Tom) Witt, of Newell, Iowa; and her brothers-in-law: Todd (Laura) and Trent (Jill) Sievers, of Albert City, Iowa; as well as many extended family members and a host of friends.
Judy was preceded in death by her father, Leland Jensen; her grandson, Nash Sievers; and her mother-in-law, Jane Sievers.
