STORM LAKE PILOT - Wed, Mar 3, 1875 – Another death by the storm of last week has been reported. Mr Matthew Keating and son, a youth of 13 or 14 years, were in Storm Lake and started home through the storm. They had a load of coal in a sled drawn by a yoke of cattle. At a distance from town, they were compelled to abandon the sled and turned the cattle loose, supposing that instinct would cause them to go home. Taking hold of the tails of the oxen the father and unfortunate youth started on the homeward journey. After traveling some distance the boy became exhausted and was compelled to stop. Of course, the father did not desert his son and the boy died in his arms. The funeral took place yesterday in the Storm Lake.
