Rose Ann Catherine Koch
December 31, 1931 - December 30, 2015

Rose Ann “Rosie” Koch, age 83, of Storm Lake, Iowa, died on Wednesday, December 30, 2015, at the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake.

Rose Ann Catherine “Rosie” Koch, a daughter of Anton “Tony” and Lauretta (Mooney) Overmohle, was born on December 31, 1931, in Elgin, Nebraska. Baptized and confirmed at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Elgin, she attended grade school at St. Boniface Catholic School in Elgin and later graduated from St. Mary’s Catholic School in Storm Lake in 1951.

On February 12, 1952, Rosie married Francis P. Koch at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. The last couple to wed in the old church, they were, subsequently, blessed with three children: Tom, Tim, and Sharon. A member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, she, also, participated in the Guild, the Catholic Daughters of America, and the Quilting Circle.

Rosie enjoyed staying busy working on her crafts and even teaching a ceramics class for a number of years. Very talented at quilting, sewing, and doing cross stitch, she produced many fine items for her family and friends. In addition, she liked to cook and bake for her family. For many years, she tended two large gardens and canned the produce to provide food for her family throughout the year. Moreover, she kept busy tending to her many beautiful flower beds. Most of all, however, she loved spending time with her family and friends and will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of sixty-three years, Francis Koch, of Storm Lake, Iowa; her children, Tom (Mary) Koch, of Marshalltown, Iowa, Tim (Connie) Koch, of Boone, Iowa, and Sharon (Dale) Heuiser, of Alhambra, Illinois; her grandchildren: Joshua (Darlene) Heuiser; Meredith (Scott) Jackson; Jason (Chelsie), Justin (Jessica), Meghan, and Ryan (Kristine) Jorgensen; Alex and Ben (Shari) Koch; and Stephanie (John) Thieben; her great grandchildren: Gavin, Alexis, Carter, Addelynn, August, and Colby with two more on the way; her brother, Luvern (Eileen) Overmohle, of Wapello, Iowa; her sisters, Betty (Don) Schmitt, of Storm Lake, Iowa, and Lois Kestel, of Schaller, Iowa; her sisters-in-law, Nancy Overmohle, of Schaller, Iowa, Lee Mahaney, of Phoenix, Arizona, and Cecelia Berg, of Waynesville, North Carolina; and her brother-in-law, David Breon, of Sperry, Iowa; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins, extended family members, and friends.

Rosie was preceded in death by her parents; her parents-in-law, Paul and Helen Koch; her brothers: Leo (Rosemary Koch) and Donald Overmohle; her sisters, Rita (Fred) Jansen and Mary Breon; her nephew, Steve Mahaney; her brothers-in-law, Norman Kestel, Robert (Margaret) Koch, Howard Mahaney, Jerry Harmon, Howard Berg; and her sister-in-law, Regina (Bob) Burke.

A Funeral Mass will be offered Wednesday, January 6, 2016, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Storm Lake. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Visitation will take place Tuesday, January 5, 2016, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. with a vigil service at 7:00 p.m. and a recitation of the rosary to follow all at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake.
