Nola Marie Ellrich, age 89, of Newell, Iowa, died on Sunday, April 12, 2015, at the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake, Iowa.

Nola Marie was born on September 17, 1925, in Newell, Iowa, to Ernest L. and Hedwig (Griffel) Madison. Baptized and confirmed at Nain Lutheran Church in Newell, she attended school in the Newell area and graduated from Newell High School in 1943.

On December 23, 1943, she married Robert L. Ellrich of Newell. Subsequently, they were blessed with two children, Roberta Lee and Barbara Ann.

A member of Nain Lutheran Church in Newell and the E.L.C.A. of Nain, Nola worked at the Newell Mirror paper in Newell for a few years before going to work at the First National Bank in Newell. There she served as a cashier for thirty-two years before retiring in 1990.

Nola enjoyed golf after she retired, playing with a group called the Keen Age Ladies. To pass the time, she enjoyed making quilts, as well as many other items, for family members, especially her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Robert, of Newell, Iowa; her daughters, Roberta Kemmer, of Sandwich, Illinois, and Barbara (Norm) Caldwell, of Humboldt, Iowa; her sister, Elayne (Steen) Boyd, of Storm Lake, Iowa; her sister-in-law, Joyce Madison, of Council Bluffs, Iowa; four grandchildren; and six great grandchildren; as well as extended family members and many friends.

Nola was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Hedwig Madison; her brother, Leo Madison; her sister, Bernadine Madison Rogers; her brother-in-law, John Rogers; her son-in-law, John Kemmer; her brother-in-law, Richard Ellrich; and her sister-in-law, Colleen Ellrich.

Funeral services will be held Friday, April 17, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. at Nain Lutheran Church in Newell. Burial will take place in the Newell Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, April 16, 2015, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Newell. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Newell is in charge of the arrangements.
