December 29, 1958 - April 21, 2015

Terry Dean, age 56, of Sioux City, Iowa, formerly of Storm Lake, Iowa, lost his battle with bone cancer on Tuesday, April 21, 2015, at the Odebolt Nursing and Rehab Center in Odebolt.

Terry H. Dean, a son of Lynn Harold and Veronica (Lingard) Dean, was born on December 29, 1958, in Spirit Lake, Iowa. He moved to the Storm Lake area with his family where he attended school, graduating from Storm Lake High School in 1977. He spent his life living in northwest Iowa, making his home in Sioux City for the past thirty years. He enjoyed working nights at Hy-Vee in Sioux City. His gift of conversation allowed him to make many friends while at work.

The beauty of nature played a big role in Terry’s life. He enjoyed going for walks, and he, especially, liked traveling by train so he could look at the scenery along the way. He, also, loved music and attended many concerts throughout his life.

Above all else, however, Terry will be remembered for his kind and gentle personality. He kept a positive attitude through his battle with bone cancer and was truly thankful for the care he received from Dr. Michael A. Jennings, M.D., the Care Initiatives in Sioux City, the Odebolt Nursing and Rehab Center, and Angel Flight. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Those left to cherish his memory include his siblings: Jim (Connie) Dean, of Spencer, Iowa, Veronica Eilenfeldt, of Mesa, Arizona, Marcia (Larry) Pepper, of Johnston, Iowa, Bev (Bob) Jones, of Eldora, Iowa, Kim Dean, of Mesa, Arizona, Tim Dean, of Spencer, Iowa, and Dorene (Dan) Ehlers, of Newell, Iowa; his nieces and nephews: Jamie Dean; Jeffery, Michelle, and Melissa Burroughs; Gary, Denise, and Wade Newcomer; Heather Halterman; Sunshine Dean-Huisman; Shiloh and Kory Dean and Niki Dean-Anderson; Jordan Dean; Shannon and Adam Dean; and Ryan and Jenny Ahlers; as well as many great nieces and nephews, extended family members, and friends.

Terry was preceded in death by his parents; an infant brother, Gary Lynn Dean; two sisters, Lori Ann Dean and Helen Burroughs; and a nephew, Craig Ahlers.

Graveside services will be held Friday, April 24, 2015, at 11:30 a.m. at Lake View Cemetery in Spirit Lake, Iowa. Visitation will take place Thursday, April 23, 2015, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.
