Marjorie M. Jonas, age 82, of Albert City, Iowa, died on Saturday, September 21, 2013, at the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake, Iowa.

Marjorie M. Ryon, the daughter of John and Irene (Olsen) Ryon was born in Laurens, Iowa, on October 12, 1930. A 1949 graduate of Laurens High School, she lived her youth in the Laurens community.

Marjorie exchanged marriage vows with Howard Eugene Jonas at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Laurens on June 11, 1951. They were blessed with three children: James, Diane, and Michael. Following their marriage, Gene worked at the local furniture store. In 1966, they began farming south of Laurens where they raised their family and resided for twenty-nine years. After retiring in 1995, they moved to Albert City where they lived their remaining years.

A photographer, Marge enjoyed taking many pictures. Her other interests included cooking, horses, and antiques. She and Gene, also, had a lake home on Lost Island where they thoroughly enjoyed spending time together. Marge greatly valued her family and was especially proud of her grandchildren. She cherished the times they shared together and the memories they created for her.

Marge’s life will always be loved and honored by her family which includes her children: Jim “Blue” Jonas and Diane Jonas, both of Laurens, Iowa, and Mike and Sharon Jonas, of Boone, Iowa; her grandchildren: Alexis Dietz, of Hampton, Iowa, and Dominic, Jasmine, Lucas, and Hannah Jonas, of Ankeny, Iowa; three great grandchildren: Hunter, Emma, and Hayden Dietz, of Hampton, Iowa; and two sisters, Lavohn Smith, of Albert City, Iowa, and Donna Fuchs, of Parker, Colorado; as well as other extended family members and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Gene, on June 23, 2009.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 25, 2013, at 1:30 p.m. at the Evangelical Free Church in Albert City. Burial will be in the Fairfield Township Cemetery in Albert City. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service at the church. The Sliefert Funeral Home in Albert City is in charge of the arrangements.
