Gloria Hibbs, age 62, of Storm Lake, Iowa, died December 30, 2012, at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City, Iowa.

Gloria R. Hibbs was born on January 27, 1950, in Storm Lake, Iowa, the daughter of Edwin and Fidelis (Mernin) Hibbs. She was baptized, received her first communion, and was confirmed in the Catholic faith.

Growing up, Gloria attended school in Algona, graduating from Algona Garrigan High School where she played basketball. Following her high school graduation, she attended Business School in Spencer, Iowa.

Gloria loved working with children, especially reading to them. She enjoyed playing and watching sports. Gloria treasured spending time with family and friends. She loved God and was deeply committed to St. Mary’s Catholic Church where she was currently a member.

Those left to cherish her memory include her mother, Fidelis Hibbs, of Storm Lake, Iowa; her brother, Jerry Hibbs, also of Storm Lake, Iowa; her uncles, Morris Hibbs, of Cairo, Missouri, and Harold (Lois) Mernin, of Coon Rapids, Minnesota; and her aunt, Mary Mernin, of Des Moines, Iowa; as well as several cousins; extended family; and friends.

Gloria was preceded in death by her father, Edwin Hibbs; her sister, Jeanette Hibbs; her brother, Jimmy Hibbs; her uncles, Earl Hibbs and Gene Mernin; and her aunts, Ruth Hibbs and Margaret Sievers.

Visitation: 3:00-8:00 p.m. with a rosary at 3:30 p.m., January 03, 2013, at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake, Iowa.
Mass of Christian Burial: 10:30 a.m., January 04, 2013, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Storm Lake, Iowa.
Interment: January 04, 2013, at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Storm Lake, Iowa.
