Mavis Marple
November 4, 1922 ~ August 18, 2019Mavis Marple, age 96, of Newell, Iowa, died on Sunday, August 18, 2019, at the Newell Good Samaritan Society.
The daughter of Henry and Minnie (Peglow) Daum, both hard working folks of German ancestry, Mavis was born on a farm near Buckeye, Iowa, on November 4, 1922. A good student, she, eventually, attended college and taught school. After she married Claire Marple, their two families became one with children: Lorraine, Thomas, Wayne, Steven, and Richard. A good farm wife and a fabulous cook, she prepared dishes that no one could get enough of at church potlucks! She loved to care for her garden, her Leghorn chickens, and the wild cats in the barn. A very social person, Mavis had many good friends. She will be missed, but she lived a good life and made the very best of her nearly ninety-seven years!
Memorial services will be held on Friday, September 13, 2019, at 2:00 p.m. at the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Newell. Burial will follow in the Newell Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for one hour before the service at the CHURCH. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Newell is in charge of the arrangements.
