March 15, 1942 - May 12, 2019Patricia Friedrich, age 77, of Alta, Iowa, died on Sunday, May 12, 2019, at the Methodist Manor Retirement Community in Storm Lake.
Patricia Ann Carper, a daughter of Alvern and Agnes (Gunther) Carper, was born on March 15, 1942, in Beatrice, Nebraska. Baptized on August 16, 1942, and later confirmed on March 25, 1956, at Bethany Lutheran Church in Omaha, Nebraska, she grew up in the Omaha area where she attended grade school. In 1960, she graduated from Omaha North High School. Then, she enrolled at the Commercial Extension Business School in Omaha.
On October 6, 1962, Trish married David Friedrich at Bethany Lutheran Church in Omaha, Nebraska. They, later, moved to Alta, Iowa, to raise their two children, Trent and Kara. Active in her church, she taught Vacation Bible School, Sunday school, and mid-week classes.
Trish enjoyed traveling to see friends and family throughout the U.S. and abroad including South Africa. Her hobbies included quilting, gardening, decorating, antiquing, walking, attending church functions, baking, and spending time with her family and friends, especially with her grandchildren. In addition, this past winter, she took a great deal of pride in receiving the “Women in Denim” Inspiration Award.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Dave Friedrich, of Alta, Iowa; her children, Trent (Lynette) Friedrich, of Dallas, Texas, and Kara Napierala (Tom Mork), of Alta, Iowa; her sisters: Dianna Rea, of Liberty Hill, Texas, Charlotte (Jack) Shade, of Eaton Rapids, Michigan, and Joan (Larry) Obermeyer, of Syracuse, Nebraska; her grandchildren: Joe Napierala, of Vermillion, South Dakota, Connor Napierala, of Troy, New York, Roman and Zarek Napierala, of Alta, Iowa, and Dana Marie Friedrich, of Dallas, Texas; aa well as extended family members and friends. Trish was preceded in death by her parents, Alvern and Agnes Carper; her brother, Dallas Carper; and a nephew, Richard Shade.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 15, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Hanover. Burial will follow in the church cemetery in Hanover. Visitation is scheduled for Tuesday, May 14, 2019, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in STORM LAKE. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.
